PDF Tracking Added to ReadNotify Document Tracking Service

PDF Tracking Added to ReadNotify Document Tracking Service

Unique and Reliable Protection for Intellectual Property

COPACABANA, Australia, Aug. 31 /PRNewswire/ -- ReadNotify.com, a unique web-based mail service, today announced the addition of Adobe Acrobat PDF document tracking to its successful document tracking service. By applying ReadNotify's technology to track PDF documents in emails, users can confirm the destination and usage of their PDF documents and much more. Document owners are informed when their PDF gets opened, what pages were read, how long for, location (town, city, country), by whom, and whether or not the document was printed, saved, or forwarded to other people.

Given the many different types of important documents with intellectual copyright and commercially sensitive information contained in PDF format -- anything from research reports, designs, legal documents, and creative copy -- the potential applications for using ReadNotify for PDF are practically limitless.

The new service, recently out of month-long beta-testing, is already proving a success, with thousands of customers tracking more than 25,000 PDFs.

ReadNotify's services provide a simple and reliable way to protect and track the transfer of intellectual property in email and across the internet. To track a PDF, users simply email it to the recipient using ReadNotify, which takes care of applying the tracking and reporting back to the sender. ReadNotify provides a read notification summary automatically via email as well as a full tracking history on the user's own web page.

ReadNotify's customers range from both domestic to large commercial organisations and include Government and law enforcement agencies, research and teaching organisations, large corporations, creative agencies, and personal users distributing intellectual and commercial property that they wish to protect.

"Our document tracking lets copyright owners find out what is really happening to their material after they send it to other people. We receive lots of interesting stories from users who have uncovered copyright abuses, both big and small," said Chris Drake, ReadNotify's CTO. "This includes ladies selling sewing-machine stitching designs in PDFs who are finding out that their customers are sharing designs with friends, to company IT security managers who have snared employees engaging in industrial espionage by sneaking tracked Microsoft documents to competitors, and everything in between," he said.
